You should be able to do it, if you click and hold LMB (to keep a piece of food in your mouth without swallowing) and press RMB to where you wanna drop it. You may need to click LMB and then rapidly click and hold again to make sure the eating animation doesn't start, and the food is kept hanging in your mouth.
