Saurischia (meaning "lizard-hipped") is one of the two currently accepted divisions of dinosaurs, alongside Ornithischia. Although traditionally classified as an order, most palaeontologists see the Saurischia as just a unranked clade. The main difference between saurischians and ornithischians, which led to their respective classification is that the former possesses a pubis bone that points forward, while ornithischians have a pubis bone that points backwards. However, several saurischians, such as maniraptorans have a pelvis structure that resembles the ones of ornithischians, an example or convergent evolution.
