Fungi are a group of living organisms that have been present in the history of the planet Earth, as early as the Devonian, although some proposed fossils seem to suggest an earlier origin way back into the Precambrian. These organisms are extremelly important for the ecosystem, acting as detritivores, feeding on dead animal and plant matter, growing mostly in moist environments, although it can vary from species to species. Some members of this kingdom vaguely resemble plants, but in truth, fungi are more related to animals.

Although planned for a future appearance in the game, fungi haven't been implemented yet. Due to Hell Creek lacking any fungus remains, the developers based theirs on recently discovered late Cretaceous amber from New Jersey, preserving fungi fossils.
