"Modern Ginkgo are considered to be "living fossils" due to being the last remnant of an ancient lineage common in the mesozoic. Hell Creek ginkgos are only a minor aspect of the environment, they are found predominantly on slopes where they can reach more sunlight."
― Saurian encylopedia
Ginkgo adiantoides is an extinct member of the Ginkgoacaeae family, that lived from the Late Cretaceous to the Miocene. Today, the only surviving relative is the Ginkgo biloba, which is currently an endangered species. The ginkgos gametophytes are edible but they need to be handled carefully. In fact, ginkgos have some degree of toxicity if the gametophytes are eaten too much for too long. They will be a reliable food source for Triceratops and Anatosaurus.
