"Other turtles in the study area are the pond or swamp dwelling taxa Hoplochelys (Kinosternidae, mud turtles), Judithemys (Sinemydidae, extinct group) and Compsemys, a small snapping turtle-like animal."
― Saurian: A Field Guide to Hell Creek
Judithemys was an extinct testudinatan, placed on an unknown taxonomic position, often placed in the Sinemydidae family but also in the questionably valid Macrobaenidae family. Judithemys was a semi-aquatic testudinatan. Its round carapace resembles those of modern testudinoids, and the webbed feet allow this animal to swim efficiently in the water. It was probably an omnivore. Although, previously, its phylogenetic position was supportive of the idea that its closest living relatives might be the modern sea turtles, at this moment, its phylogenetic position on the modern testudinatan phylogeny is uncertain, and they might even be stem-turtles.
