"The dawn redwood (Metasequoia) have been around since the Jurassic and remain essentially unchanged today. This deciduous conifer is common at Bone Butte, especially in areas of frequent flooding, as they are strongly resistant to waterlogging."
― Saurian encylopedia
Metasequoia occidentalis is an extinct member of the Metasequoia genus in the cypress family. Today, only one member of the Metasequoia exists: the dawn redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides). Just like many redwood trees, Metasequoia is probably of little nutritional value for herbivores.
In Saurian[]
Metasequoia are present in Saurian. Adult trees are inedible, though the saplings can be eaten by Triceratops.
