Torosaurus was a genus of ceratopsid dinosaur that lived in the late Maastrichtian stage of North America, 68 to 66 million years ago. Torosaurus has been found and recorded in the Hell Creek formation, however, it was a rare dinosaur. It is unique for having one of the largest skulls ever possessed by a land animal, even larger than that of its very close cousin, the Triceratops. It was around the same size of the Triceratops and, just like its cousin, it had three horns, two over the eyes and one on its snout. One of the main differences between Torosaurus and Triceratops is its obvious huge frill with large fenestrae. However, due to having been phylogenetically very close to Triceratops species, there has been debate over whether or not Torosaurus latus should be lumped into the Triceratops genus.

Torosaurus was one of the many animals that have been discussed to appear in the game, but eventually never was introduced. Torosaurus was already a rare animal in the Hell Creek Formation, and its absence in the Bone Butte, would have made its inclusion unnecessary and likely innacurate.
